The Hans Sachs plays in Rothenburg ob der Tauber have been transporting visitors into the world of Franconian humor for 100 years. Accompanied by the melodies of Hans Sachs music, the jokes of the shoemaker poet Hans Sachs are performed in various venues such as the Toppler Theater and the Theater am Burgtor. The plays by Hans Sachs, born on 5 November 1494 in Nuremberg, are characterized by a coarse humour that reflects the folly and foolishness of all classes of the time in a humorous way and at the same time inspires reflection.
